Itinerary 1- KENYA/TANZANIA STUDY SAFARI
DAY 1:Travel from USA or Europe. DAY 2 NAIROBI: Arrive in Nairobi in the evening and transfer to luxurious Nairobi Serena Hotel for overnight stay. Later there will be dinner on your own or as a group. DAY 3 NAIROBI: Breakfast will be served at the Nairobi Serena Hotel. After breakfast, we shall take a city tour to see the City Market, the Parliament, and the National Museum, Karen Blixen Museum (author of Out of Africa) and Kazuri (Beads) industry. Lunch and dinner will be on your own or as a team. DAY 4 NAIROBI/MT KENYA SAFARI CLUB: After breakfast we shall depart for Northern Kenya driving through large tea and coffee plantations in the heart of Kikuyu land, where the largest tribe in Kenya lives. We will arrive at the Mt. Kenya Safari Club in time for lunch. You will relax after lunch, or enjoy use of facilities of the club. You can see animals at the nearby Animal Orphanage, swimming pool, tennis Courts, and nine hole golf course. We will stay overnight at the club. DAY 5 & 6 SAMBURU: After breakfast at Mt. Kenya Safari Club we drive further north to Samburu Game Reserve arriving in time for lunch. We will spend TWO DAYS viewing Samburu's typically "northern" game, among them the Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Long-necked Gerenuk, Reticulated Giraffe, Lions, Leopard, Cheetah, Hyena among many others. The group will stay at the traditional styled Samburu Serena lodge. DAY 7 SAMBURU/SWEETWATERS: After breakfast we will drive back towards Mt. Kenya, arriving at Sweetwater’s Tented Camp for lunch. After lunch we shall go for an afternoon game drive in the private 110,000-acre ranch, also worldly known as the site of Jane Goodall's Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Animals to be seen are mainly the big game, including giraffe, zebra, buffalo, elephant, Oryx and eland. Dinner and breakfast will be at the tented camp. DAY 8 SWEETWATERS/TREEHOTEL: After breakfast we shall drive to Mountain Lodge near Mt Kenya. Lunch will be served at the lodge The Lodge is built high among the trees and overlooking a water hole where forest animals gather to lick salt and drink from the water hole. Forest game can be viewed on the flood light lit water hole overnight. We shall stay overnight at the Tree hotel. DAY 9 MOUNTAIN LODGE/LAKE NAKURU: In the morning after breakfast we shall head west past the Aberdare Mountain Ranges, descend the escarpment into the scenic Rift Valley and arrive at Lake Nakuru, the home of millions of Flamingos. After lunch we shall have an afternoon game drive, and luckily see a handful of the over 250 bird species recorded in the park. Many flamingoes make the lake look pink (the colour of flamingoes) other rare game will be encountered, including Rhino, Leopard, and Rothschild’s Giraffe. The group will stay at the Lake Nakuru Lodge or any other hotel identified on the outskirts of Nakuru town. DAY 10, 11 & 12 MAASAI MARA: After the early morning breakfast, we will depart for Maasai Mara Game Reserve through the scenic forests and wheat fields of Mau Narok Plateau and the Maasai Loita plains. We shall arrive at Keekorok Lodge in time for lunch and afternoon game drive enroute to Mara Serena Lodge. We will spend THREE days of game viewing in this Northern extension of the famous Serengeti National Parks. The Park boasts large herds of Wildebeest, Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino, Lions, hyena, and other numerous plains animals. Morning and afternoon game drives. The group will stay at the Mara Serena Lodge. A possible balloon safari will be arranged. DAY 13 NAIROBI /ARUSHA, TANZANIA:
After lunch in Nairobi, We will drive south to Tanzania arriving in Arusha
for dinner and overnight stay at Mt. Meru Hotel. All meals will be at Mt.
Meru Hotel. DAY 14 ARUSHA/LAKE MANYARA: After breakfast we drive to Lake Manyara arriving in time for lunch and late afternoon game drive. Lake Manyara is famous for the tree-climbing lions, and hosts over 370 species of birds. This is one of the parks with the highest concentration of animals in the world. Dinner and night will be at Lake Manyara Serena. DAY 15 & 16 NGORONGORO CRATER: After breakfast we shall drive through the scenic Ngorongoro Highlands to the Crater, to arrive in time for lunch. Overnight stay will be at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. The following day after breakfast we will take a picnic lunch and descend into the crater using the Lodges Land rover. We will descend 2,000ft. to the floor of the Crater, and enter a spectacular wildlife sanctuary in this vast "Garden of Eden". At Ngorongoro, Africa's highest concentration of lions is found. Other predators include cheetah, hyenas, and jackals. Numerous plains game are drawn to the year-round grazing afforded by the Crater's permanent Lake. We shall have an all day game viewing at the Crater floor. The group will stay overnight and have meals at the lodge. DAY 17 & 18 SERENGETI: After breakfast the group will depart for Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gorge, the site of Leakey’s' archeological findings, and the oldest human fossils, "Zinjanthropus". Serengeti (5,000 square miles) boasts over 40 species of plains animals and about 470 species of colorful birds, some found nowhere else on earth. The Great migration of wildlife of July and September is seen in Serengeti and Maasai Mara, both of which offer spectacular game viewing year round. EA-ECOCONSULT will offer you this package, with a stay at the Serengeti Serena Lodge. DAY 19 ARUSHA/NAIROBI: After
breakfast we will fly to Arusha arriving in time for lunch and later drive
to Nairobi for an overnight stay at Nairobi Serena Hotel or Norfolk. DAY 20 NAIROBI/USA/EUROPE/AUSTRALIA- BON VOYAGE: After breakfast you will have the rest of the day for leisure, or maybe seek some of our guides for a walk around Nairobi. You will have an own lunch and an evening farewell by one of the Directors of EA-ECOCONSULT. After dinner we will transfer to Jomo Kenyatta Airport for the departure flight. Itinerary 2- KENYA STUDY SAFARIThis is a 15-day study tour through Kenya. The team will be lead by an experienced naturalist, while our driver guides are very knowledgeable. We shall arrive at Amboseli Serena in time for lunch. We will spend TWO DAYS at the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,352 ft.) Large herds of Elephant, Buffalo, Zebra, Wildebeest, Gazelles and Impala will be encountered in both the morning and afternoon game drives. We will also view the glistering peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The group will stay at the Amboseli Serena Lodge. DAY 6, 7 & 8 MAASAI MARA: After breakfast in Amboseli Serena, we will drive north to Nairobi, arriving for Lunch and later transfer to Wilson Airport for a Flight to the Mara. THREE days of game viewing will be spent in this Northern extension of the famous Serengeti National Parks. The Park boasts large herds of Wildebeest, Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino, Lions, hyena, and other numerous plains animals. Morning and afternoon game drives. The group will stay at the Mara Serena Lodge. DAY 9 LAKE NAKURU: After the morning game drive and breakfast we shall drive through the vast wheat fields of Mau Narok plateau and Great Rift Valley, arriving for Lunch at Lake Nakuru Lodge. An afternoon game drive in the Lake Nakuru National Park the home of millions of Flamingos will make you encounter the white Rhino and other wild game, including over 250 bird species recorded in the park. Many flamingoes make the lake look pink (the color of flamingoes). Other rare game will be encountered, including Leopard, and Rothschild’s Giraffe. The group will stay at the Lake Nakuru Lodge or any other hotel identified on the outskirts of Nakuru town. DAY 10 TREEHOTEL: After breakfast we will drive north through the scenic Rift Valley escarpment and Thompson Falls to Aberdare Country Club, to arrive for lunch. After lunch we drive to Tree hotel, built high among the trees and overlooking a water hole where forest animals gather to lick salt and drink from the water hole. Later there will be dinner and an overnight of game viewing at the Tree hotel. DAYS 11 & 12 SAMBURU: After breakfast will drive further north to Samburu Game Reserve arriving there in time for lunch. We spend TWO exciting DAYS viewing Samburu's typically "Northern" game: Somali Ostrich, Grevy’s Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Long-necked Gerenuk, Oryx and their predators - Lion, Cheetah, and Leopard. Morning and afternoon game drives. The group will be booked at the Samburu Serena Lodge. DAY 13 SWEETWATERS TENTED CAMP: After breakfast we will depart for luxurious Sweetwater’s Tented Camp Getting there in time for lunch. The camp is located on a private 110,000 acre Ranch known as Ol Pejeta. It is home to a diverse range of plains animals, including Elephants, Rhino, Giant Forest Hog, Waterbuck, Suni, Dik Dik, Reedbuck, Bushbuck, Eland, Lion, Leopard, and the shy Bongo. We shall have an afternoon game drive and visit to Jane Goodall's Chimpanzee Sanctuary, where orphaned and abandoned chimps are rehabilitated and taught to fend for themselves in an area resembling their natural habitats. We shall have meals and stay overnight at Sweetwater’s camp. DAY 14 MT. KENYA SAFARI CLUB/NAIROBI: After breakfast, we will drive to luxurious and exclusive private club, Mt. Kenya Safari Club for lunch. Actor William Holden, Club amenities, founded the club include a health club, gourmet restaurant, golf, tennis, and horseback riding. All meals and overnight stay will be at Mt. Kenya Safari Club. DAY 15 NAIROBI: After breakfast, we shall drive southward through large tea and coffee plantations in the heart of Kikuyu land to Nairobi, arriving there in time for lunch. After lunch, we shall visit the National Museum of Kenya and, hopefully, we shall do the last minute shopping with assistance from EA-ECOCONSULT staff and prepare for your flight back home.
